WHERE TO LIVE

Choose your pace

Gold Coast has three main areas for international students. Where you land depends on your budget and how much surf you're chasing.

Tourist Hub

Surfers Paradise. From $200 AUD/week. Hospitality jobs, nightlife, and a large international student community, with the beach just 5 minutes on foot.

Inner Beach

Broadbeach · Mermaid Beach. From $200 AUD/week. Easy beach access, restaurants, and shopping within walking distance, quieter than Surfers.

Quiet South

Burleigh Heads · Coolangatta. From $180 AUD/week. Surf beaches, a local favourite, with a slower pace and a longer commute to school.

Work

They’re always hiring

Here we find hotels, restaurants, bars, surf schools, and theme parks. International students find work in their first week. Hospitality and tourism hire year-round, with higher demand in the summer. We tell you how much people really get paid and where to look in our guide to working in Australia.

LIFESTYLE

The beach is a way of life

Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Burleigh Heads, or Coolangatta. Gold Coast is built right along the beach, and everyday life is too. Surfing around the clock. The subtropical climate guarantees over 300 days of sunshine a year.

Community

Smaller, quieter, easier to get to know

Gold Coast is smaller and quieter than Sydney or Melbourne, but it has one of the largest international student communities in Australia. You meet your people faster than you expect. Prefer to compare before deciding? Here are all your cities of Australia.
