You don't book flights or close anything until you have the visa granted. Home Affairs explicitly warns about this: the average processing time is around three months.

Upload each document to the corresponding subfolder in your Drive folder, in PDF format and with a well-named title. A useful example of a name: Passport_NameSurname.pdf.

1. Passport

It must be valid and cover your entire stay. View the full data page, legible and without cuts.

If you have dual citizenship, send us both passports: it is not always advisable to apply with the same one.

2. Studies

You must prove your level of education. What is required depends on your passport:

CountryWhat is required
SpainHigher education degree, or having completed at least 2 years of university degree studies.
ArgentinaThe same as Spain.
ChileHigher education degree, or having completed 2 years university students and be approved to take the third year.

It is not necessary to have completed a degree. A higher qualification recognized by the authorities is also valid, such as certain diplomas or cycles. If you are not sure, send us what you have and we will evaluate it.

Add the title and, if you have it, the transcript or certificate of grades.

3. Certificate of English

You need to provide proof Functional English (Functional English). The requirement is the same for Spain, Chile and Argentina: IELTS 4.5.

It is a 4.5 average Among the four competencies. You don't need to get 4.5 in each one separately.

These alternatives are also accepted for exams taken from the August 7, 2025:

  • PTE Academic: 24 global points.
  • TOEFL iBT: 26 total points.
  • LANGUAGECERT Academic: 38 global points.

The result must be less than 12 months when you submit the application. It doesn't matter that you got a very high score: if the exam is older than 12 months, they won't accept it.

4. Proof of funds

You have to prove that you can support yourself in Australia and leave the country at the end. Home Affairs puts the figure at around AUD 5,000 for the start of your stay, plus your onward ticket.

The usual is a recent bank statement in your name.

Our advice: make sure the money stays in the account for a while and see where it came from. A large income right before applying generates questions.

5. Return ticket or funds to pay for it

You can prove it with the ticket for the departure already purchased or by showing that you have enough money to buy it. That money goes apart of the AUD 5,000 in maintenance.

Be careful about the previous advice: do not buy the ticket until you have the visa granted.

6. Medical insurance

For the 462nd It is not mandatory present it, but Home Affairs recommends it explicitlyIn Australia you are responsible for all your medical expenses, and an emergency without insurance can cost you thousands of dollars.

We can get you a discount from the insurance companies we work with.

7. Passport-style photo
